The Ericsson Computer Science Lab, led by Bjarne Däcker, interfaces product development in Ericsson with research and new technologies outside. During this time I became a member of the company-wide Ericsson Coordination Board for Processor Strategy and earned the title of "specialist" (a technical position corresponding to a first-level manager).
My internal consulting for RISC and Transputer-based product development included a system-integration study of commercial processors as central processors in a telephone exchange, performance for different processors, reliability and configurations, and compatibility with existing systems [8].
I am the first inventor of "DUPER," a high-speed communication protocol, in 1985 [38]. It solved many performance-related problems found in protocols designed without an efficient implementation in mind. DUPER was the subject of three Ph.D. works at KTH 1989-1996 and later renamed DTM. The Swedish spin-off companies, Net Insight and Dynarc. as well as several projects at Ericsson, are based on this idea [2][4].
