I am the director of the Vinnova Excellence Center WISENET and is leading the Computer
Communication group CoRe, at the
department of Information
Technology.
The group consists of five senior researchers and 7 graduate students.
We do experimental research within wireless mobile
and sensor networking. My most recent work include test-beds for
wireless sensor and
opportunistic networking, mobility and Quality of Information in Wireless Sensor Networks.
I hold a PhD
from Uppsala University since 1983, and a MS from University of California
Los Angeles, 1981. Before joining Uppsala University in 1995 I was
at the Swedish Institute of Computer Science. I was a visting scholar at UC Berkeley 2007 and Gäst professor at ETH Zurich 2011. I have been an
associate editor for the IEEE Transaction of Mobile Computing and Computer Networks. I am a co-founder of the startup
companies OptiMobile(2003) and WISENET Holding AB(2007).
Current activities and
information
PhD program admittance: Please do not send
unsolicited applications. I will get a large number of applications and I cannot respond to all of them individually. Note that
all positions will be announced.
Open PhD positions: A position is announced on the department homepage (February 2012).
Teaching
I regularly teach the advance course Data Communication III. It is a
D-level (i.e. at the last study year) course, project oriented which
explores current research issues within
wireless and mobile communication. A variant is given as a basic PhD
course. The next instance of Data Communication III will be given Spring 2012.
Personal
During the Winter I enjoy skiing and in the rest of the year hiking and traveling.
