Numerical simulation of seismic wave propagation in complicated geometries

Abstract:

Wave propagation simulation is one of the classical problems in scientific computing. In this project the focus is on accurate and stable simulation of seismic wave propagation in complicated geometries. As our model for the seismic wave propagation, we consider the elastic wave equation. In particular, the starting point for my PhD project has included an investigation of the interaction between fluids and solids.
