To: perfctr-devel@lists.sourceforge.net Subject: perfctr-2.4.0 released perfctr-2.4.0 is now available at the usual place: http://www.csd.uu.se/~mikpe/linux/perfctr/ The new remote control facility should now be working properly. Known issues: - Hyperthreaded P4s do not work. The problem is known but fixing it is not trivial. Recent Linux 2.4 kernels can be booted with "noht" to disable hyperthreading. - 2.5 kernels are not supported, due to radical changes in SMP CPU numbering and the introduction of involuntary preemption. Future: I'm now going to concentrate on rewriting the driver with the intention of having it accepted into the 2.5 Linux kernel before the 2.5 kernel feature freeze scheduled for Halloween. Version 2.4.0, 2002-09-26 - Fixed an overly strict access control check which prevented opening another process' /proc//perfctr when the driver was built as a module. - Updates for kernels 2.2.22, 2.4.18-10-redhat, 2.4.20-pre8, 2.5.36. / Mikael Pettersson
