The requirement to pass the course
Matrices and Statistics with Applications is to formulate and work out
details on a project that is relevant to the individual research plan of the
participants and concerns issues that have been discussed within the course.
To relate better the material discussed during the course and the individual research done by the participants,
it is required that each of the participants formulates his/her own project to work on.
Procedure:
Deadlines:
Submitting a detailed project report: by 22.04.2016 (highly recommended) and
not later than by 2.05.2016.
In case some of you have difficulties to formulate a project, related to own research area, please contact the coordinator. We will then suggest a project to work on.
1: A short project description of a project (1-2 pages) is sent to the project coordinator.
2: A detailed report in the form of a scientific article is prepared.
In the report the problem is described in more detail, together with
relevant statistical and computational aspects and issues, needed to be addressed in order to solve
the problem; the methods to be used, sketches of the algorithms, implementations (partly or fully); expected outcome, computational complexity issues,
numerical stability issues etc, as discussed in the course; conclusions and outlook
(see also here ).
Submiting a short project description: during the course week (highly
recommended) and not later than by 8.04.2016.
