My research is focused on applying backscatter communications and related techniques to integrate battery-free devices with commodity wireless networks such as WiFi, ZigBee or Bluetooth, with the purpose of facilitating their adoption and enabling new applications.
I obtained a PhD from Uppsala Univesity in May 2020 under the supervision of Prof. Thiemo Voigt. and Dr. Frederik Hermans. The title of my thesis was Seamless Integration of Battery-Free Communications in Commodity Wireless Networks, and my thesis opponent was James Gross from KTH Royal Institute of Technology. Before the PhD I earned an Advanced Diploma in Telecommunications Engineering from the universities of Minho, Aveiro and Porto in Portugal and before that a Bachelors degree in Physics from the University of Havana.
