The remaining laboratory exercises are programming problems which provide practical experience with the implementation of client server applications using TCP and UDP.

Laboratory Due Dates are now listed below under the section on assessment.

Assessment

The course will be assessed using assignments, laboratory work and an examination.
I have created some sample examination style questions for you to use as you revise and study for the exam. You can also use the questions in the textbook at the end of each chapter to test your knowledge.

NEW

The examination used for Datorsystem II (Datakommunikation) in period 1 is available (including outline solutions) here. This exam contains a fair number of appropriate level questions for the course.

Assesment Details

Special Arrangement Exam 85pts  991218 Pol 1/211 (9 - 14) You need to register with Arnold in Advance to take this Exam
Packet Snooping Lab  3pts  991203

The grading scheme for this course will be determined on the examination plus any bonus points that have been acquired from the laboratory work. Grades will be allocated on the basis of the total number of points accrued by a student as follows.

Points Range Meaning
0 - 54 Unsatisfactory
55 - 69 Pass
70 - 85 Pass with Distinction

Results are listed here and here

The second set of results have the same meaning as the first. Everything is out of 85 marks, and a mark of less than 40 means that you need to take the repeat exam. A mark between 40 and 55 might mean that you need a repeat exam depending on your bonus points. 55 and above is a pass grade.

I will be allocating grades to students when I get back from holiday and mark the repeat exams.
