Abstract:

Stochastic models for molecular cell biology will be described. A major focus is the comparison of Monte Carlo and deterministic algorithms for the chemical master equation. A discussion of the different contributions to total noise in gene expression from different sources, notably intrinsic and extrinsic sources, will be given. Finally, some applications of these models to cellular oscillators and to immunology will be presented.
