Radial Basis Function Methods for Interpolation and Collocation Problems: Adaptive and Partition of Unity Schemes

Abstract:

RBF methods, which are widely known as methods for scattered data interpolation, have been becoming popular for numerical solutions for PDEs. In the first half of my talk, I will discuss adaptive RBF methods for solving collocation problems with localized features. For the second half, I will talk about RBF methods in partition of unity scheme for solving 2D Poisson's equation on irregular domains. This is a joint work with Elisabeth Larsson.
