ipUnplugged is a company developing IP mobility products for the mobile business community. Our Mobile Service Routers, client software and service management systems form a secure Mobile VPN system that allows business users to roam transparently beyond the confines of private networks. As part of this effort, ipUnplugged would like to conduct research in the area of key management for adhoc wireless networks.

Description of the Topic:

In contrast to the fixed networking environment of Public Key Infrastructures (PKI), wireless adhoc networks cannot ensure continuous connectivity with a centrally placed, online Certificate Authority (CA). The task of the master thesis is to practically demonstrate the usage of a management system to imprint personal keys with certificates and rules in order to allow the delegation of key management and security association estalbishment between peers in an adhoc network. The master thesis will give general knowledge in IP security (PKI, DNSSec, X.509, IKE. IPSec) and specifically practical experience of integrating Rainbow's iKey technology into the adhoc network environment.
