In this seminar, after a short review of multigrid basics, we introduce algebraic multigrid methods, also known as AMG methods. We review the main differences with standard (geometric) multigrid methods, and discuss the pros and cons. Next, we present with some more details aggregation-based AMG methods, illustrating them with the AGMG software. Eventually, we discuss its parallelization.
