Abstract:

In recent years, structural optimisation has become one of the most important topics of engineering applications. Optimal structural design is becoming increasingly important due to the limited material resources, environmental impact and technological competition, all of which demand lightweight, low-cost and high-performance structures. The governing equations arising in the structural topology optimisation are complex and challenging from computation point of view and need to solved accurately and efficiently. These challenges are addressed partially by a number of numerical methods emerged in the literature. In this presentation, we deliberate on coupling local meshless method with finite element method for accuracte and efficient numerical solution of the PDEs arising in topology optimization.

In the beginning of the presentation, some historical and geoghrapical perspectives of the region will also be briefly discussed.
