Are the eigenvalues of banded symmetric Toeplitz matrices known in almost closed form? Some new results and applications

Abstract:

The Generalized Locally Toeplitz (GLT) theory can be used to find spectral symbols, which describes the spectral distribution of sequences of Toeplitz matrices. This theory can be applied to analysis and improvements of different numerical methods, like for example FEM/FDM/DG/IgA, used to discretize and solve PDEs. An introduction will be given, as well as a presentation of recent results and applications.
